All are within 90 minutes drive of Hobart, can be accessed without a 4WD and all are, in full or in part, family friendly. Make sure you research your walk before you leave, to ensure that you're selecting the section that is most appropriate for your child's age.

    6. Alum Cliffs Track - 2.5km return. This scenic walk in the northern suburbs of Hobart takes you along the River Derwent and offers stunning views of the cliffs. Helpful tip: Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Be sure to watch out for uneven terrain.

    7. Knocklofty Reserve - Distance varies. Glover Track: 2.7km. This reserve offers a variety of walking trails, as well as opportunities to see native wildlife and plant species. Helpful tip: Bring a map or use a trail guide to navigate the area, and be sure to pack plenty of water and snacks. Wear sturdy shoes and watch out for uneven terrain. 

    8. Taroona to Kingston Beach - 4km return. This coastal walk takes you along the River Derwent and offers stunning views of the water and the surrounding area. Helpful tip: Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Be sure to watch out for uneven terrain.

    9. Hinsby Beach - 1.5km return. This beach walk offers stunning views of the Derwent River and opportunities to see wildlife and bird species. Helpful tip: Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Be sure to watch out for seasonal changes in the weather.

    10. Mount Field National Park - Distance varies. Shortest walk: 10-minute walk to Russell Falls. This park offers a variety of walking trails, as well as stunning views of the surrounding area and opportunities to see wildlife and plant species. Helpful tip: Bring a map or use a trail guide to navigate the area, and be sure to pack plenty of water and snacks. Wear sturdy shoes and watch out for uneven terrain.
